haim, re:AOL etc. in this case the premium on the puts was surprisingly low - it seemed nobody wanted to have them. it was yet another reflection of the extreme bullish sentiment on the stock.
btw, premiums on yhoo puts also contracted markedly, in spite of the stock being negative by the close. i expect yhoo to surprise on the upside when earnings come out tomorrow, and yhoo and probably the whole group to sell off sharply thereafter. this may well take the whole market down this time. the call you received from the broker is yet another sign the end may be near. i recently posted some cautious comments on the cmgi thread and found out that caution is not in demand there...
while the internet without doubt represents a significant part of the future, the survivors among today's bunch will be few and far between. i day-trade some of the 'leaders' because their volatility offers opportunities, but brokers offering them as 'investments'...it'll end in tears for many people.
