Yes, I read that Bertlesmann is helping them out in most of Europe where they have
great name recognition and know how to do business.

Rob,

I understand that Bertlesmanns is doing well in Britain, Germany and France. It is a name that is known throughout most of Europe although that name was totally unkown to me prior to playing AMZN.

We are looking at just books and music in these areas. I was wondering if the sequential revenue increase by Amazon was to come from large growth in Europe. Likely, that was not the plan.

When the Internet develops to the point where
broadband communications is prevalent, the content of the Internet will have changed
drastically. Just putting up products with a bit of information won't be able to cut it. The
media companies combined with major advertising agencies can turn themselves into
Internet content engines with massive creative power.

This is true. I have been spoiled due to my having cable modem access for years now. I play Bloomberg TV via Real Audio during market hours with no slow down for quotes, posts, etc. I listen to CNN and BBC news in the evening via the same method. These firms will need interactive pages and true streaming media which accounts for the YHOO purchase.

I'm sure that Bezos has something
like this in mind for a few years down the road - but he needs to start planning and
positioning Amazon now.

I am done taking the approach that Bezos is far from a genious. I do not believe he is a genious but most people long Amazon, believe in him. My opinion is he moves with the flow rather than pre-planning. The Street throws enough money at him so he can do this.

My belief down the road is that Amazon will eventually fail. The real leaders are emerging.

They are:

AOL
DIS
YHOO
CNN ( I know many will argue this)
GE
MSFT

There may be others but these I am quite sure will do well.
