Corel Corporation Unveils CorelDRAW(r) 9 Graphics Suite

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--Corel Corporation today announced the launch of CorelDRAW 9 - the latest version of its award-winning graphics and image editing suite. The newest release of Corel's flagship graphics program, CorelDRAW 9 delivers high performance and productivity enhancements, exceptional compatibility features, unparalleled creation tools and exceptional value.

CorelDRAW 9 Graphics Suite is scheduled to hit store shelves in May and will sell for a suggested retail price of US $695(1) or CDN $945(1). CorelDRAW users and users of competitive graphics suites may upgrade to CorelDRAW 9 Graphics Suite for a suggested retail price of US $199(1) or CDN $299(1). This pricing reflects Corel's commitment to providing its users with the latest technology at a price that delivers superior value.

The suite includes CorelDRAW 9, Corel PHOTO-PAINT(r) 9, Bitstream(r) Font Navigator(tm), CorelTRACE(tm), Corel Texture(tm), Corel Capture(tm) and Canto(r) Cumulus(r) Desktop. The new release is an exceptional tool, which is ideal for producing professional designs and images.

CorelDRAW 9: CorelDRAW 9 is a powerful and intuitive vector illustration and page layout application that provides a full range of creation tools, innovative effects and high-quality output features.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9: Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 is a comprehensive photo-editing, image composition and painting application.

A number of major professional improvements common to both CorelDRAW 9 and PHOTO-PAINT 9 are featured in the suite:

- Publish to PDF features: Options include job ticketing, image downsampling options, bookmark and hyperlink support and preset PDF styles for quick publishing

- Enhanced EPS, PSD file format support

- Embedded ICC profiles: While previous versions included support for industry standard ICC profiles, CorelDRAW 9 and PHOTO-PAINT 9 allow users to embed ICC profiles into various file formats. This provides users with greater control over the entire color management process between applications

- Multiple on-screen Color Palettes: This allows users to view more than one Color Palette using the Color Palette Browser window or the Color Palettes menu in the Window menu and checking the palettes they wish to view

- New color palettes: A host of on-screen colors have been added, including coated and uncoated versions of popular PANTONE(r) inks

System Requirements

CorelDRAW 9 - optimized for Windows(r) 95, Windows NT(r) 4.0 and Windows 98 - requires a Pentium(r) 133 processor, 32 MB RAM (64 MB recommended), 100 MB hard drive space to install CorelDRAW 9, online Help, filters and fonts. Users will require a CD-ROM drive 4X, SVGA monitor and mouse or tablet.

Language Versions

CorelDRAW 9 will be available in German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese within 30 days of the English release. Additional language versions are scheduled for release in summer, 1999.
