New Digital-Test Platform Provides Comprehensive Characterization, Integrates Easily Into Most Test Environments Data Generator/Analyzer Platform is VXI-compatible; IC/Circuit Characterization Package Shortens Design Cycle PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1999-- Hewlett-Packard Company today announces a data generator/analyzer platform that offers engineers a comprehensive test package for the design and production of integrated circuits (ICs) for digital and mixed-signal devices. The platform can be integrated easily into existing R&D and manufacturing test environments. ''We are committed to increasing the usefulness of our digital-test platform with the goal of offering engineers an extremely efficient solution for testing their digital designs,'' said Alois Hauk, general manager of HP's Boeblingen (Germany) Verification Solutions. ''We want to help test engineers around the world to produce better digital products faster.'' Easier Integration HP 81200 data generator/analyzer modules with varying channel capacity can be integrated easily into other VXI-based test platforms, and any C-size VXI module can be configured to work with the new HP 81200 system. The platform can be added to an existing automated test environment (ATE) to provide additional tester functions, such as high-speed channels for RAMBUS ports. Plug&play drivers facilitate easy programming and test-system integration. Comprehensive Characterization The circuit characterization package for the HP 81200 includes three primary elements: HP E4874A characterization software components, HP E4839A test fixture and BestLink/81200 Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool. The characterization software components allow engineers to design and automate most measurement tasks, for example, the integration and control of other instruments such as a power supply. Using the numerous examples included in the characterization software, engineers can create test functions in the software environment best suited to them. The test fixture's design makes it easy to wire DUTs (device under test) -- with up to 192 pins -- and to exchange user-defined DUT boards quickly. Users can be sure of high signal quality up to a data rate of 660Mb/s. The BestLink/81200 EDA tool converts stimulus, timing and result data from the customer's simulation system for later use in the design cycle, thus eliminating time-consuming reprogramming. Background R&D and production test engineers can use the HP 81200 platform to perform characterization and verification on digital subsystems, ICs and boards for most computer and telecommunication products. U.S. Pricing and Availability The HP 81200 ranges from $21,000 for a two-channel, 200Mbit/s generator to $470,000 for the 120-channel, 660Mbit/s generator/analyzer platform. Delivery takes approximately ten weeks after receipt of an order. The HP E4839A test fixture is $3,900, while the HP E4874A characterization software components are $4,500. All products are available now. BestLink/81200 is available for $14,500 from Diagonal Systems. A free demonstration and evaluation copy can be downloaded at www.diagonal.com.
