strand's bookstore (the original) is located roughly (maybe exactly) on west 12th st and broadway. it's 2 blocks south of union square... the other one you mention is a couple blocks away from south street seaport, about a 10 minute walk from the financial district (and less distance to chinatown). it's a much smaller strand, and they tend to have 'older' books. the strand near union square is where all the scribes go to sell their reviewers copies... (i've also picked up a koppel book there, and i know that they have freidfertig's book, as well).
