I wonder what G* capacity is as far as # of users and how easy to increase capacity - is it just a matter of more satilites or must they acquire more spectrum. Also, wonder if WCOM may have an interest considering the very low stock price and the near term prospect of full operation.

Also, I heard the marine phones are looking good. A cute little aerial to act as a 'status symbol' for any self-respecting yachtie/boatie.

If it really becomes a status symbol, Iridium is the way to go. Last thing you want is the fit to hit the shan and to be out of range. If you are a bluewater cruiser, the only viable option is Iridium. Coastal types will be happy with Globalstar, but most of them never really venture out of cellular range.
