Mark, I'm using this post as my guide for PAIR earnings:

Mark,

If you have been following this stock for 2 years, you should realize that they do not consider missing by a penny to be a bad thing, therefore they would not bother to pre-announce it. Either that or their accountants are so bad they can't figure it any closer than a penny.

They only pre-announced last quarter because knew they were going to miss by half, although they were not even specific at pre-announcement time about the amount they were going to miss by.

Don't get me wrong, I am long PAIR, and have been for nearly two years! I think they are going to make their number this quarter, too. But I have been wrong almost every quarter and paid for it!

Greg

Mark,
I totally agree. I wouldn't be surprised that the action you saw in XYLN and now FORE is repeated in PAIR. When?.. I'm not going there..

I suspect a fair amount of money traveled from XYLN to FORE after the buyout and PAIR is a stock on the radar screen of several posters who are on the FORE and XYLN boards.

A company that makes money and has lots of cash on hand is usually rewarded in the end. I have noticed similar patterns in other small/mid cap companies especially in these industries but they seem to get absolutely creamed before the big blocks start rolling through.

Buying near term calls doesn't seem the thing to do especially with the stock price being killed at the present time. Selling at the money covered calls for May only gets you about 10% but is an option if you are new to PAIR and don't mind if your upside is limited by this strategy. Selling naked puts is a good idea especially at these levels assuming you are willing to have stock put to you at 7 1/2 (actually 6 1/2 with a premium of 1 for May 7 1/2)
Another suggestion is to buy LEAPS. The Jan 00 7 1/2 calls are about 3 1/2 each. For more leverage, the 10's don't look too bad. Check with this link for all the greeks etc.
