OT Ibexx, Potsdamer Platz is just a huge-- mega -- construction zone. Some friends of mine at Humboldt Uni want me to come to berlin for a while. I may, Certainly a few weeks in the fall. Nice position on EMC!

OT Ibexx...just had to jump in....I just happened to be in Berlin the very day the wall fell down (sadly to say, I don't even remember the date anymore...what October 17, 1989?)...I've got a copy of the Berliner newspapers (from that day) around somewhere... (Berlin is an incredible city...too bad the weather isn't better (!) The day the Wall fell...some friends and I were in a jazz club listening to a friend of mine sing....in the middle of her performance, the owner of the club....a 40-ish beatnik woman wearing a red beret came out, stopped the music, starting giving a patriotic speech, and skipped off in glee....although I (and my friends) spoke German (and understood her), we figured she had just had too much to drink...<G> Little did we know.... A couple hours later, we exited the club....saw all the hubub on the Street, and knew something really important was going on....it was amazing to talk to, hug, cheer total strangers driving in their polluting, lawnmower-engine Trabis across the border (burning their GDR Passports).. Got to cap off the day by sitting on the Wall (at 4 AM), and talking to an East German border guard.....it was cold as hell, but no one really gave a darn... It really doesn't get much better... Thanks for letting me reminesce (sp?).....
