Unfortunately, a lot of larger investors tend to liquidate positions (give 'em a "haircut") near tax time in order to pay off their taxes. They generally like to wait 'till the last minute in order to maximize their gains on their long-term winners. It's no fun selling off some of your AOL when its on a run, for instance.

The small-time investor is another story.

Historically, we correct in April, bounce in May and then march on to new highs into July. Then we sell off again.
