Ed Stern: ORCL is a steal right now. Yes, there could be some slight downside potential as the stock shakes out a little, but it is a first rate company, second largest software corp and it will rise once again.
Hambrecht and Quist, who started this entire downdraft, stated on March 12 (when the price was still over 36:
'A lot will be riding on Oracle's May quarter, since management has deescribed a strong deal pipeline and over 40% of the year's business is slated to close in the quarter. News flow will likely flow on new product releases and overall internet positioning. On May 13, the company will hold an analyst day. given the quarter's trend lines, and some encouragement form the company's CFO Jeff Henley to remain conservative, we are slightly lowering our estimates for 1999 and 2000. At current price levels, we maintain our HOLD rating on the stock'.
