If it could work you would see more tradiung than you already do in aftermarket trading but there isnt any..and people want to sleep..Thus you will not be able to monitor things round the clock ..Trust me when I tell you..It is not going to happen..American traders wont let it ..regardless of how much ECN's want it..They are all crims anyway..

I also agree - I'm afraid you cannot turn the clock back (literally for this one) - as long as there is a demand for 24 hour trading then someone will fill it.
I live in Tokyo and commute/work between here Hong Kong and Auckland - can you imagine the problems I have also trying to find time to run a portfolio let alone trade in New York. At least with Schwab you can put in orders overnight for execution the next day but that is not the most desirable way to conduct business.
Take a look at the opening/closing prices to day they are simply a reflection of trades that happen at a certain time but they have become almost religious in their significance - this stock up 10% this one down 5% - but its all going to be a bit meaningless if there is no open/closing prices -

or am I dreaming???
