Is the 3Mbps "bottleneck" a function of the "modem" (actually, the way I understand it, a "signal synchronizer"), or the condition or your line? The install guy said I could get 8Mbps downstream out of my connection if I wanted to, with the same equipment. I'm *only* getting 256kbps downstream and 64kbps upstream, because that is all I wanted to afford. Just curious.

BTW, I love all this talk of broadband service. I pretty sure Intel believes BB service proliferation is extremely important to growing the microprocessor business.
