24/7 Trades Exploding sounds like a nightmare to me for those same reasons, Anthony. Lives, nervous systems, marriages, and families would be ruined, and knowing already mine would suffer if I ever were to try to keep up with such an unrelenting fast track workworkwork. And the concern about the volume being diluted is true, how could the shares be priced properly then? Watch for the stampede back to Mutual Funds, gold coins, art, bonds, real estate & T-Bills if such a thing comes to pass! It already goes on in a sense, or the prices at Open would always be the same as they were at the previous days Close. But on this grand scale, with no Open and Closing Price, and especially without time to relax, do DD, and plan on weekends and at night for tomorrow - ugh! You know, I'm really wondering If and How the NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and OTC/BB plan to co-operate? I looked on these thread links and didn't see anything there but maybe I missed it. I doubt they plan to or could possibly co-operate with this; and how would it be to their interest to do so anyway? 24/7 would probably be its own smaller contained market like Philadelphia, San Francisco, Chicago, the indexes and futures and diamonds, etc. Perhaps if these brokers put together their own mini-market their doings would be factored into the Open like what goes on now from overseas, imbalances, brokers needs, and the fabled overnight trading sites that already exist but from what I've heard are more like Nathan Detroit's Floating Crap Game. Just Orders For The Open sitting there from being placed overnight waiting to be factored into the first share prices is the only way as I understand it "Overnight Trading" at present affects the NYSE, etc. Without a true 24/7 seamless fit, this here overnight thing would collapse because there would be 10 Opens and Closes with one long spell/ordeal for the weekend, instead of the 5 days as we know it. And the smaller overnights doings would be disrupted again as the bigger trading day opens; are there many who would really profit from that except for night owls who work days and market junkies who just can't get enough? Seems to me they'd be trampled when the Big Boards Open.
Will be following this trend closely, for sure...if it comes to pass bigtime watch for me clutching my certificates and thundering on the hoof to check out those alternate investments. Life is too short!
