tax contest countdown:

In the next post I begin a daily series of posts of public records of Gregory D. Writer Jr. These records show tax liens, recorded in San Diego County.

Why do I believe these are relevant to investors?

Quite simply, the character and quality of management is perhaps the most critical factor in determining whether a small company will succeed. I believe it is especially important information for a company that isn't reporting.

If a company officer isn't responsible enough to pay personal taxes, at least promptly enough to avoid liens, what does that say about the way he/she will run a company?

Would you lend him money?

Would you send him your money to buy shares in his company?

I have blocked out the first seven digits of the social security number for Mr. Writer, even though this number is part of the public records, available for anybody to see. I'm leaving only the last two digits, so that it is possible to distinguish him from another person named Gregory Writer (with an address in a Mountain Time Zone state) who also had tax liens.
