SSB seems to have a guess of tomorrow...

Applied Materials will present their long-awaited Electra copper tool at COPPER Technologies this Thursday, April 8, at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The event will start at 4:30pm EST and last approximately one hour.

We believe that this meeting will generate two main takeaways: 1) the
importance of process integration in delivering a complete copper
solution, and 2) the lack of production worthy tools, or alternatively the lack of an industry infrastructure/body of knowledge that is gating copper adoption.

Net-net, we believe that this delay will allow AMAT sufficient time to
catch up and expect it to be a 50/50 split with Novellus. At the current
valuation, which we believe is devoid of overaggressive copper
expectations, this is not really a negative for Novellus's stock. The company had a negligible 6% market share (with the Varian PVD
acquisition) in the metal deposition market, and a 50/50 split with
Applied Materials will be a significant accomplishment.

re: My guess would be that the announcement will take place at Semicon Europa next week. AMAT is conducting lots of analyst meetings this week, so that's probably what is feeding the rumor mill.
