I love eggplant. But have never had much success with them :(

It's my understanding they are in the tomato family, but I never get more than one or two large ones. Mostly small, maybe 4 inchers. Regardless of the variety I try.

I like to eat them raw like a zuke.

Chili is always a favorite. This year, we'll grow(excuse the spelling) Cloa de rata(translated- the rat's ass<g>) chili de arbol, pbolano, papriki, bells, jallipinos, and maybe another few varities.

I have a mail order list from some huge place in New Mexico, but can't find it right now. They have over 100 varities of chilis. I'll post it when I find it.

As for the tomatos, I'll be going with La Rosa, and one other(non hybrid-open pollinated in my garden for about 4 years now), and some traditional salad/sandwich tomatos that are also non hybrid ands like third generation fr5om my garden.

I also have my squash, beans, peas, boccolli spinich lettuce, and the fiurst two chilis mentioned as saved seeds from last year.

I'm shifting more and more towards these open pollinated varities- for self reliance fun purposes. But never bock at trying any hybrid new varities.

Good Friday is the old farmers schedule for getting peas in the ground. I have lagged this year. In fact, I never even got more than a few cloves of garlic in the ground last fall :(...gotta depend on bartering my chestnuts again with my frarmer friends. But i like doing that too.

I had a dream last night that my apricot trees had a few blossoms on them already. I hope not, but will go check sometime today.
