I am glad you did not feel you had wasted your time. My husband and I thought it was one of the worst movies we had seen all year. Cube was worse.

One of my kids rented What Dreams May Come while we were on vacation, and we watched it at my sister's house. I thought it was nonsense, but well done, and we all cried, I wound up sitting on the couch with my kids, an arm around each, because some of it was so sad. I did like the message, it's not that dissimilar to what's-his-name that wrote The Screwtape Letters, that "hell" is turning against God, and that one can get out of hell only one is willing to give up one's error, usually pride.
