Morris and Morris Announces Class Action Against Compaq Computer Corp. Business Wire - April 07, 1999 09:46 WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1999-- The following is an announcement issued by Morris and Morris: Notice is hereby given that a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas on April 5, 1999, on behalf of all persons who purchased the common stock of Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ) ("Compaq" or the "Company") between January 27, 1999, and February 25, 1999, inclusive (the "Class Period"). The complaint charges Compaq and certain officers with violations of Section 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 as well as Rule 10b-5 promulgated thereunder. The complaint alleges that defendants issued a series of false and misleading statements and failed to disclose material facts regarding a slow down in demand for and sales of Compaq's products in the first two months of the first quarter of 1999. As a result, the price of Compaq common stock was artificially inflated during the Class Period. During this time period and prior to the disclosure of these adverse facts, Compaq insiders sold hundreds of thousands of shares of Compaq common stock, earning millions of dollars. Plaintiff is represented by, among others, the law firm of Morris and Morris. Morris and Morris, a law firm with a national practice, has taken a leading role in successfully prosecuting class and representative litigation on behalf of defrauded investors in numerous state and federal courts. If you are member of the Class described above, you may, no later than 60 days from March 12, 1999, move the Court to serve as lead plaintiff of the Class, if you so choose. In order to serve as lead plaintiff, however, you must meet certain legal requirements.
