DARBES,

AMD has an historical record of of disappointing with relative consistency.

Taking a long term view, AMD's engineering has delivered well ahead of schedule. 12 months ago no one would have believed there would be a 475MHz K6-2 or that K7 would be in production at this time.

Speaking as an engineer who is very familiar with the challenges AMD is facing, it certainly appears that they are doing a fabulous job of engineering.

Re: "The other is their obvious internal efforts to get something out soon enough to counter what must be seen as a genuine threat. Make no mistake, They are working feverishly to come up with a response that is credible."

Of course they are. Intel is a company that runs on paranoia. They didn't get to where they are by being stupid, just like AMD didn't get to where they are by being smart.
