Actually I didn't hear that, but it was well documented that the predominantly black city voters were heavily against the measure. There was a big "undecided" block right up until the election and the past week the political "leaders" were playing to that crowd with FUD. The vote was extremely close and fear is a very good motivator.

Same as in Illinois when they tried to pass a right to carry law only here it was it would be unfair to the muggers if the victims were also armed.
