<Why should we "take charge" ? If anyone should take charge it's the European nations. We should have remained completely out of this debacle unless invited by Europe. This may have eased the Russian perception of this thing.> Europes inability to lead shouldn't be used as an excuse to avoid US action. <I think if we put ground troops in Russia may have more to say about this situation. > Russia needs to be watched for sure, if they want to raise the stakes I think we'd reconsider but our fear of what Russia might do shouldn't stop us until they start making direct statements that they are planning to get involved. They haven't to date, and I don't believe they will.
