Kim,

Won't it be fun to be a tourist in the near future with this technology? You'll even be able to speak the language of the natives, 'cause the built in (sorry, it does cost you an extra) speech recogniser will display all you need.

Kim -in the SF mood. Literally talking to myself ;-)

You're post put me in the way out, creative "what if" mode. As I read your last statement I thought you better be careful or you'll start hearing virtual voices which lead me to think about schizophrenia (I used to work in Mental Health).

Now wouldn't it be something if this technology could be used to help treat that or other mental illnesses? One thought I had was many who have schizophrenia suffer from paranoia and hallucinations (visual and audio) often causing fear and anxiety. See where I'm going with this. If VRD equipped glasses could be connected to programming on an individual basis that would allow the person to see and/or hear the hallucinations in a way that way that would allow them to feel safe maybe they could experience a lessening or extinction of their fears and anxieties. (I'm being VERY simplistic with a very COMPLEX ILLNESS but I'm not going to write a dissertation. I purposefully stated it as a possible treatment, NOT A CURE)

Probably way out in right field on this one. Who knows what other zany ideas could turn into realities with this technology when you begin integrating it with other developing technologies. This is what fascinates me.
