"However, if you really believe that that principle justifies U.S. military intervention anywhere in the world that evil people are doing bad things, there is a LONG list of places and people we should be bombing. Some have been mentioned on this thread "

Mr. Barry is very selective in his indignation over brutalized children. It's okay in his narrow world for the racist Israelis to murder Palestinian rock-throwing children almost daily, but very wrong for the Serbian government to fight terrorist guerrilas in their own nation. Mr. Barry's emotions are shaped by whatever scenes he has seen on last nights news cast--"a disease of blind nationalism and partriotism". Reason, rational reflection and a historical perspective are not part of his psychic makeup.<ggg>

<< Under Burke's principle, we are "allowing" monsterous evils to go on in hundreds if not thousands of places throughout the world. >>

Sad, isn't it. I have lamented that human nature bends towards evil rather than good. It's also sad that the people of Serbia can look at the suffering of people and not want to help. Instead of helping, Serbs are victimizing.

Kosovo is different. This monsterous evil is happening in NATO's backyard. It threatens to spread and it threatens stability. Most of all, it threatens the well being of hundreds of thousands of innocent Kosovo Albanians.

Perhaps in your mind you can justify doing nothing, but what about your heart?

ps: thanks for the blake/burke correction. I copied it from the Internet. I'll look it up again!
