Sounds like a good idea for a thread. The author of the article you linked to, Kate Murashige, is one of the most respected biotech patent attorneys around.

April issue of "Red Herring" has a feature series of articles called "The future of Biotech". It's really a bit of a "puff" with separate 1-2 page descriptions of:

1.) "Beyond the Genome"- bioinformatics-mentions Oxford GlycoSciences & Cytokinetics
2.) "PostGenomic World" - outlines Cytokinetcs founders and business plan... also mentions INCY, HYSQ,Genset, MLNM
3.)"Keep your Genes on"- Article about the dangers of Gene Patenting including Q & A with economist, activist Jeremy Rifkin. Basically says Gene Patents are illegal... the "cannot patent discoveries in nature" arguement.
4.)Genetic Sequencing explained.
5.)Why investors have little interest in Cloning.

All in all not that interesting... but puts some of these issues out in front of the public... positive piece (except for Rifkin) for biotech...
