Pure gamble. I picked up 250 shares today but I would have to say it was a hunch and not a certainty. On the plus side, I know a lot of companies that use Oracle databases and are more likely to upgrade than to change. On the negative is Y2K which could lead to lawsuits. The deciding factor for me was the DOJ, it may rein in Microsoft enough that Oracle will prosper.

IMO, this is the time for Oracle to go on a buying spree. Supply Chain software maker Manugistics is ripe for the taking at 5 3/4. I just noticed it is trading at below book value. There must be several others in similar positions.
