DOS ZIPPING:

I didn't time it, but it seemed to take less time than it takes my system to boot. Probably about a minute or so. P.W.

P.S. My perception is that if something is done in either DOS or Windows, DOS gets it done quicker. I haven't ran tests to find out for sure, but it IS my impression.

this is kinda' cool...(may be just for win95)

how to change the icon associated with a program on your desktop...

1. Right-click the icon you want to change; then click Properties on
the shortcut menu.
2. Click the Shortcut tab.
3. Click the Change Icon button.
4. Scroll through the Current Icon box. If you see something you like,
select it and then skip to Step 6.
5. If you DON'T see an icon you like, in the File Name text box,
replace "SHELL32.DLL" with "PIFMGR.DLL" (without the quotation marks)
and press Enter. Scroll through the new set of icons and select the
one you want.
6. Click OK; then click OK again.
