I was wrong. IDT did not work with a bank in Spain. This is a short description of what they did (from the IDT website) -

"Identicator Technology installations include: Spanish Social Services involving 7 million smart cards and 650 ATM machines, which won the prestigious annual CardTech/SecurTech award in 1996"

there was an article in a february edition of computing which said spanish social security system was starting to use fingerprinting the people loved it, were asking when it was going to be used in banks.

also said uk government was very impressed and were looking at using this system, i think the project was tass

i wanted to copy an electronic version to thread but this article wasnt on their archives

so the CA link is interesting
