t2k, it's the WinHEC your thinking of, and yes there's lots of good news coming from the conference. I expect the news coming out of COMDEX this month to be special. That's the reason I am focusing on the May Calls right now. Seems to me to be the best play. Teflon

T2K, I posted on the SUNW thread about 3 weeks ago the fact that Linux would prove much more of a threat to Solaris on the low end than NT. If you are an NT shop its because the apps you want are on NT and unlikely to go to Unix which creates a mix of environments which adds a lot of cost to your admin. However, if you're already Unix, then Linux is great - it will have much more industry support than Solaris. The SUNW thread ripped me apart and now all I'm reading is how Linux is helping the likes of Dell sell PC servers. I thought it was obvious. ON the negative side Linux is taking a good chunk of market share in the server space, but in the end MSFT still offers a value proposition that's hard to beat when you combine the apps available. Also, if Win2000 can go part of the way in answering the reliability issue required by 7x24 servers especially for the Internet then MSFT will grow its market share even faster. Having a board add-on that provides NT is nothing new, and I don't believe in the 'no performance hit'. In any case, if I want to run NT I won't buy a Solaris box to do it. If I already have Solaris then sure why not. I just don't see this a a big share grap type of product. BTW- I am long SUNW and MSFT - both have their strengths, I'm not religious about it.
