Linux is a BSD-lookalike with its own flavor.

Ha ha! He said, she said. MSFT lovers say "Linux is a threat to other Unix systems, not NT." SUNW lovers say "Linux is a threat to NT, not other Unix systems." I like the way you look down your nose at Linux and imply that it's a toy OS only fit to take market share from NT and is impotent against your Precious Solaris.

The truth is that Linux has the potential to hurt both. My opinion is that Linux has the biggest chance, in the near term, to grab share in the server space since to replace Win98 or WinNT desktops you have to retrain armies of users and port all of your custom apps while replacing servers should be transparent. This would hurt Sun more than Microsoft but would hurt both.
