Give me a break. In an information vaccuum, a few posts on SI are sometimes the only information available, and the daytraders act on it. Did you see the CNBC story today about PairGain? Some joker posted a link to a fake webpage he had set up, that was a phony press release about PairGain being bought out.

Just a joker, right? Nobody would pay attention to some loser (who in this case was on the Yahoo msg boards) like that, right?

Well, the stock immediately went up 25% on 5 times normal volume, until CNBC reported the story was a scam.

SI is a perfect place for rumors, and rumors drive stocks more than anything else. Earnings sure dont drive these stocks, because there are none.
