I agree that we're losing our best scientists, but it's not because of Linux and GNU. It's because a full professor at Berkeley makes little more you can doing basic arithmetic in the financial services industry, and substantially less than you can fiddling about on Wall Street. As for the pseudonym, don't forget -- the real Bakunin was no socialist; his opposition to Marx split the First International. No bomb thrower, I content myself with hoping for a better world, of which I see some symptoms in a gift-based, hacker culture. -mb
