edamo: I heard that in Round Rock they're having an ongoing BBQ in the next few weeks <ggg>!!

MSD has many good things to relay to the ANALysts and Fund Managers. They' re probably having cocktails as I type. Tomorrow afternoon many of them will be on their cell phones calling their trading desks and putting in LARGE orders to buy more DELL. They'll wonder why they lightened up on DELL in the first place. The growth story is intact. I predict that we finish the week over $50/share.

Have a Good Evening.

Regards,

Scott

GartnerGroup's Dataquest Forecasts Asia/Pacific Printer Market to Surpass 8 Million Units in 1999

Singapore, April 1, 1999—Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT), announced today that Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) printer shipments are forecast to grow by 15.7 percent to reach 8.1 million units shipped in 1999. Ink jet printer shipments alone will exceed 5 million units this year, growing faster than the market as a whole at 18.2 percent over 1998 (see Table 1). Dataquest analysts said positive gross domestic product (GDP) growth rates and balance of trade factors in the largest markets will have the most direct effect on printer consumption in Asia/Pacific this year.

"Dataquest's model-level printer research in Asia/Pacific reveals limited Y2K-related impact on overall printer consumption in the region," said Lane Leskela, senior industry analyst for Dataquest's Asia/Pacific PC and Printer Distribution Channels program. "With applications remediation continuing through the first quarter of 2000, minor budgetary diversion from printer purchases in the private sector are likely to continue until mid-2000." .........

GartnerGroup's Dataquest Says Latin American Printer Market Surpassed 21 Percent Growth in 1998

San Jose, Calif., April 7, 1999—Despite the Asian financial crisis and natural disasters in Latin America, the Latin American printer market grew 21.5 percent in 1998, with shipments reaching 4.1 million units, according to Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner Group Inc. (NYSE: IT). In 1997, printer shipments surpassed 3.4 million units. The ink jet segment drove the market, as ink jet printer shipments accounted for 76.4 percent of all printer shipments in the region.

"The success in the Latin America printer market is mainly due to the lower price points, and it also emphasizes the fact that the region is continuing its efforts in the expansion of the IT industry," said Riddhi Patel, research analyst for Dataquest's worldwide Research Operations group.
