My cousin did a study on this exact subject some time back. I am too lazy to go back and find it on the thread. The simple answer is that the birds do not eat. They are stoned birds. Made by natives in the jungle. SHORTY had the whole thing worked out about the cost per bird, margins, shipping, everything. It all made perfect sense at the time, as I recall.

I also recall that SHORTY had discovered what the company was using to line the stoned bird's cages, but it is a trade secret. Insider information I think.

Unfortunately, by Mike Sylver's own admission, it appears that not too much credibility can be given to statements in the 10Q.

Q (Montal): Mr. Sylver, this document purports that Amazon told the SEC that there were no legal proceedings that were applicable...
A: The 10-Q is an unaudited statement. It's the 10-K you need to look at if you want to find factual information...
