Nice news post, Jim. It's pretty clear that Russia has big incentive to collect that $11 billion in taxes this year. Sounds good to me. This really is a fascinating issue to watch. Although I don't delve into political issues much, to see HGRM right smack in the middle of one by virture of their economic partial solution is quite interesting. It's no wonder strange rumors are encircling this deal.

By the way, Les, supposedly Applied Holographics (big in Europe) and American Banknote are two of the other bidders for the Russian project. Of course, that was then and this is now.

Not to be antagonistic, but really, what is the deal with Aden? Is it to be forgotten, or just in hibernation?
Ted

Doing biz in Russia and China.....

Jim- I do business in most parts of the world and I have been to Russia in 1996 (when things were good) and in China twice in 1998.
China has communism for politics but they are pure capitalists otherwise. The Chinese know how to do business and they like to buy and sell at a profit (Karl Marx rolling in his grave). Beijing and Shanghai are thriving cities set up for business.

It's not all beer and skittles.....my PRC business partners give me lots of headaches. It is much easier with our partners in Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea. Asia is my favorite overseas place to visit on business. Politeness was invented in Asia.

Russia is pretty much a wasteland for business and it is a sad, sad situation. I like the Russian people and I am of Russian decent.
The Russians have a saying about their situation. It translates
roughly to mean "things will never change".

I realize there are compelling reasons in Russia to have these holograms and I have a vested interest that HGRM will get paid.
But if payment is not guaranteed by a US bank I am very concerned.
The Russian bank handling the LC could go under....it has happened.

I thought Bob said in an email that US banks were guaranteeing the LC.
Yo, Bob, please advise.
