In re ownership sharing, I am conflicted. As a market participant, I hate options; they dilute my ownership of residual earnings. In that sense, I am on Warren Buffet's side: if employees are worth it, pay them -- in cash. As an anticapitalist, I like employee ownership of production. In the end, the fact that options grants disproportionately enrich the already-overpaid and -overrich, and their use by startups as a fictitious lottery ticket to exploit engineers like you convince me that Buffet is right after all. -mb
