Hi depy

puts are contracts guaranteeing you the right
to SELL a security (say AOL) at a set price for
a limited time in the future. You buy this
contract. The less time there is on the contract
and/or the further the contract (kick in) price
is below the current price ... the less expensive.

to do this you need to have a brokerage account that
allows you to trade in options ... but lets stop there.

send me email at

You gotta read a little bit* I cannot (will
be so careful not to) make a recommendation.
But learning choices and what they cost, and
how they work, and why you might consider
using them is sometimes useful..
