I do agree that Linux could very well become the dominant enterprise O/S. My point is that if all enterprise s/w is expected to be free, that's an unstable situation. Who is going to employ s/w engineers, then? Even poets get royalties.

I find it hard to understand how some would put such an expectation on the s/w development community's shoulder, that they should not demand an compensation for their labour.
