Broadband Wars: @Home gets broadband bucks
ZDNet - Thursday April 8 4:33 PM ET

@Home Networks bid to resell broadband services to small cable
companies got a boost today from some major technology firms,
which agreed to pump $20 million in to the project.

3Com Corp. (Nasdaq: COMS - news), Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT - news)
and Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO - news) are among the backers
of the new venture, @Home Solutions. The Solutions program will sell
packaged broadband cable Internet services to small and medium-sized
cable operators.

@Home also said today that it has signed up its first customers for
the new business, Falcon Communications, a Los Angeles-based cable
operator that serves more than one million homes in 24 states.

3Com, Cisco, and Motorola will work with @Home and its cable
affiliates to develop the new system, which will offer standard
Internet services as well as customer service, billing and
installation to the cable providers.
