If you think our stockpiles are low now, you should have seen them before Reagan took office. Once, for a six month period during the Carter Administration, my only contact with munitions was watching John Wayne movies on late night TV.

Strangely enough, as much as an anomaly as Clinton is, and as much as he is a disgrace to his office, he is only following a time honored tradition of the Presidency. Think about it. Since the turn of the century, every war outside of Desert Storm was initiated and fought under a Democratic President. Woodrow Wilson WWI, Roosevelt and Truman-WWII, Truman-Korea, Kennedy and Johnson- Viet Nam (Okay so Nixon finished Viet Nam and Desert Storm came under Bush) The point is, Democratic Presidents deplete military stockpiles and Republican Presidents build them up. I don't think anyone can deny that we need a Republican (Or at least a non-Democrat) in the White House come 2001 if for no other reason that we need to re-arm.
