Any idea why the PC/desktop debate seems to be entirely fixated on the stupid clock?

To repeat Karl Feidler's (sp?) point (now posted at MightySoft I believe)... there are five layers
- the clock/hardware
- the operating system
- the applications
- the data
- shared data

Yet the debate for the desktop seems to never move beyond the clock.

Repeat after me 2001 times... "A computer is a computer is a computer... regardless of how old or it's size."
