Good soldier,
How good to see you back on line. What would we do without your *.wav's and M. Twain citations, not to mention the MVIS comments.

The posts of Wednesday evening (it was eerie and quiet here during my evening hours...) focus on what VRD can do or not. Let's not loose a very important factor out of sight:

As far as I've gathered, MVIS' task is foremost working on the VRD technology in terms of size, scanning devices -MEMS- and light sources -LED-. All the black boxes. As long as they get the hardware where it should be, there is, for the traditional replacement of VRD for a screen display a question of simple(???) interface between existing soft/hardware and the new display method.

The challenge facing the actual use of VRD as we've been presented by the helmet display systems, requires new software. Look up, and you'll see another display/information than when you look down. I imagine that there are few limits to future use of VRD if you only have the creative resources to handle the interface between information you gather from different sources and how you want it to be displayed. MVIS have obviously resources attached to this issue, but I'd expect a lot of development having to happen in close relationship with systems producers who know a lot about what they can deliver, but are restrained by existing display methods.

Does this make sense?
