<<They will be distributors of packaged "freeware" for crying out loud.>>
Sure , there is freeware available, but most people are buying the commercial versions...Also, the
many LINUX supporting peripheral software packages that are emerging are not freeware....These
folks aren't getting into distribution of LINUX for fun and games, but for PROFIT...

I think the point not being mentioned is that this LINUX distribution with increase Navarre's exposure to the investing public and greatly increase the number of hits to their website. That is huge!

Agreed. I understand that. In fact, I've BOUGHT a couple sets of cd's myself - the price was right, and I didn't feel like downloading 200MB's of code.

My point is that a lot of the posts I've read here concerning the news of this deal, one would think that Navarre wrote, developed, and own the software themselves. Furthermore, after re-reading the press release, I don't see anywhere that it is an EXCLUSIVE agreement.

Don't misunderstand me. I think this is great, but it does not warrant the exuberance of tone I've sensed in all of these recent posts. Could be setting up for some disappointment. But we shall see; hope I'm wrong.

KT
