OTOTOTO Yeah, I remember those, except they had two grooves, one on each side.

The hole in the middle is a warp field. A record really bends through the hole and only has one side. :-) Actually, I have several old one-sided shellac (I think that's what the stuff is) records that have labels showing a little dog, some having the word "Victor" and others "Victrola" on them. From a little later there are two-sided ones that have the dog and say "RCA". I don't have anything to play them on though. Trying finding a turntable that'll play 78's.

I played a lot of records it wore out my diamond stylus. But vinyl is soft, and only diamond can abrade diamond. Was my air full of diamond dust? Or what?

May be... Perhaps you should set up some filters in your house...
