Ten, I don't have much experience with Solaris (my UNIX experience back in college
was on old SunOS machines), but many of my coworkers have positive attitudes
towards this flavor of UNIX. The continued relationship between Intel and Sun
concerning IA-64 is very good news indeed.


Solaris remains the OS for mission critical applications like intranets, backbones where I work (wherever S390 doesn't fit). Solaris is considered to have the robustness and scalability needed for mission critical.
