Cisco of course is a large LSI customer. Currently, little if any money is being made on ATM chips, and when Wilf announced a cut back of R&D, ATM was one of the areas in which the cuts were made. The problem with ATM is that Cisco keeps finding ways to expand the capability of Ethernet, but it appears that this is coming to and end, although much later than expected. If this dimunition of Ethernet's capability growth occurs, then we can expect to see the growth of ATM.
