Power utilities prepare wide-scale drill

Y2K compliance not expected on June 30 deadline

<< NERC learned that many utilities would not be Y2K ready by the June 30 deadline, but that they would become Y2K ready at a later date. A decision was made to permit power companies to report that they are Y2K ready by June 30 if they list separately any exceptions to being ready.

Those exceptions might include things such as not being able to fix a Y2K problem until a scheduled maintenance period that falls after June 30. Power companies will also be permitted to claim Y2K readiness on time if their mission critical systems are ready even though other systems are not ready. Companies waiting for vendors to provide new software or hardware which will not be delivered by June 30 will also be able to claim they are Y2K ready on time. Such exceptions are not considered necessary to report to the Department of Energy or to the public. >>

In other words, watch what they do ... not what they say.

There is nothing in your report that is not true. However, the report has to be qualified by a when and if the scheme will fail. One of the main focuses of this board is to monitor every little blip, nuance, dislocation, etc occurring in the world and extrapolate that event to the imminent collapse of the world economy and the concomitant ascendancy of gold. What a fruitless occupation. While the gimmickry is real, the resources and ability of the collective central banks is also very real and countervails a lot of the stresses inherent in the various carry trades.
On the other side of the scale is the reality that the US is the sole world power, and as being demonstrated in Serbia, there is very little opposition to us. Our military operates with impunity, and future operations will have the benefit of continuing technological advances applied to new weapon systems. The synergy of military strength, technological innovation, and our expanding economic position are powerful counterbalances to the derivative implosion theory which this board clings to as the Armegeddon which will make their gold positions profitable. What a waste of energy.
