Robert--OT NYC I wouldn't get a place out and around Jones Beach, there is nothing out there, you can hear your voice echo. I would suggest getting a hotel on the Northern Shore of Long Island, a lot nicer than the southern coast and nicer in terms of crime. You can sometimes find good deals in NYC to stay, unless you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle. Jones Beach is only 30 min to 45 min from Manhattan. Looking for the stock tip, a few beers sounds good. If you are looking in Manhattan, I would suggest the Hyatt Regency. Not toooooo expensive for NYC and nice rooms, plus you are right in Midtown, good fr the tourist thing. Also, if you need any rec's on restaurants or anything else in NYC let me know, I can recommend some good ones.
