Although I agree that we should not support the KLA, my understanding is that its ranks swelled as Milosevic stepped up his persecution of the Kosovar Albanians. In fact, one reason to intervene in some manner was to defuse the KLA as a target of opportunity for radical Muslim groups seeking to infiltrate Europe, and to demonstrate that Christian Europe is not hostile to Muslims, but is willing to go to their defense in appropriate circumstances. Of course, bungling is not helpful...
