Dan, sometimes alcoholism has been shown to skip a generation. Maybe the parents never drank but usually it shows up from a grandparent.

I agree no one is making them drink but their reasons for starting to drink are social drinking. No one makes a decision that they will become an alcoholic. Medical science has discovered that an alcoholic will react differently than the normal drinker in that his body chemistry will create a high similiar to morphine. The normal drinker never feels this way when drinking.

Dan,
I agree with James. Whereas, we may have a social beer now and then and think nothing of it, that may be all that is needed for the potential alcoholic ot get addicted. Remember, none of us now what our genetic makeup is, so that social drink is somewhat akin to playing Russian roulette in a sense.

Now I don't know whose fault that makes it, but I feel that compassion is what is called for, not mean vindictive diatribes, no matter how well meaning. (I am not talking about you here, obviously)

<<Did God show you this?>>

Yeah, I looked within and asked him. :-) sorry couldn't help that one. LOL
