PR Newswire - April 12, 1999 10:21

NET2000 to Deploy Titan(R) Systems to Deliver Advanced, Integrated Services

LISLE, Ill., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tellabs announced today an exclusive agreement to provide wideband digital cross-connect solutions for NET2000 Communications' next-generation voice and data network, which is being deployed in the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions.

NET2000, a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and integrated communications provider (ICP), is developing a local and long-distance voice and data network. The network will enable NET2000 to deliver centralized data, voice and Internet connectivity solutions to its business customers.

"With the TITAN 5500 and 532L cross-connect systems in our lineup, we have the flexibility for rapid customization of network services, giving our customers the type of top-shelf performance and service they have come to expect," said Mark Mendes, chief operating officer at NET2000. "The Tellabs solution allows enhanced remote troubleshooting capabilities from our network operations center, ensuring the quickest and most responsive customer service."

Richard Taylor, senior vice president and general manager of the Digital Systems Division at Tellabs, said, "This agreement for cross-connect capabilities allows NET2000 to be well positioned to satisfy the diverse data and voice requirements of its customers. The TITAN system will enable the rapid expansion of NET2000's network as its customer base continues to grow."

The TITAN 5500 and TITAN 532L systems are deployed in all types of networks as the primary means of effectively managing transmission of voice, data and Internet traffic. The TITAN systems act as gateway network elements, simplifying surveillance and provisioning of other network elements.
